St. Bernadette lived a simple life in Southern France. One day she came upon a grotto. It was there that Our Lady of Lourdes visited her, and it was there that Our Lady revealed herself to as the Immaculate Conception. St. Bernadette visited her in the grotto for many weeks despite the hatred and judgment for her actions. She held strong in her belief in Our Lady, and soon the water in the grotto was found to be miraculous. Even when Our Lady of Lourdes stopped visiting Bernadette, the water continued to be miraculous. To this very day, many people have gone to bathe in its water to be healed.
